What a lucky girl was I the day I found this very rare, antique Criel & Montereau Grey Poupon Dijon mustard pot. This is a large pot - approx 12.5 cms /5" tall. Beautiful old lettering to front and back and the C & M backstamp used from 1886 - 1920. As there is also a handpainted '88' on the backstamp I can only assume this pot was produced in 1888. I have no idea where it's been for 135 years but it's in remarkably good condition. There is a small area of chipping to the base and a hairline in the interior glaze. A few other little signs of age but really nothing to remark upon. Pop it on a shelf with a few sprigs of lavender and I guarantee it will make you smile every time you pass by.
