About Us

When I was nine years old, I was playing out at a disused quarry (things were different in the seventies!) when I dug a bottle out of the bank. It had a marble in the top. I showed it to my Dad who told me it was old - Victorian perhaps. The next day I went back, armed with a spade and a wire basket and dug up more bottles, old pipes, face cream jars and marmalade pots. I couldn't have been happier if I'd found a hoard of gold coins. Sadly, my secret treasure trove was only mine for about a week, until the bigger kids came and kicked me off, but it lit a spark. I grew to love all things antique and vintage. As a teenager, I raided my grandma's wardrobe for clothes, and once I got my own home there was no stopping me. I don’t think I’ve ever knowingly passed by a junk shop or skip without a quick scout for hidden treasures (providing endless opportunities to embarrass my children). I spent my career working with children and families, and I found a creative outlet writing children's books, eventually being published worldwide, in many different languages. But I never lost my love of treasure hunting and,  now my kids are grown, I feel so lucky to have the chance to do it as a new career.
These days I rarely dig bottles out of riverbanks (although I still do from time to time) - I am more likely to be found at a rural auction, or further afield, searching for treasure at a French brocante or vide grenier. Luckily, I have a husband who shares my love of France, is extremely tolerant and very good at carrying things!

We sell online and at fairs across the East of England and would love to say hello  - please check Instagram for the latest details.
